Most people start their day like they’re late for a flight they didn’t even book.
Phone in hand. Brain half awake. Panic in the bloodstream…
By 9:00 AM, they’re already tired or programmed into fear, pain, anger etc.
Not because life is hard.
But because they let chaos hit first.
Winning entrepreneurs, leaders, and dads don’t ease into the day.
They take it by the throat.
With planned structure.
And a little coffee or tea…
The real problem.
Most men don’t lack discipline.
They lack a plan.
They wake up and grab their phone like it’s an oxygen mask.
And suddenly they’re underwater before breakfast.
Urgency feels important.
But so does a toddler banging on pots and pans.
Neither means progress.
The principle
If you don’t control your morning, the world controls your mood.
And the world is not known for emotional stability.
Your morning is like the opening drive of a football game.
Whoever sets the tone usually wins the field position for the rest of the game.
The 5-step morning framework
- Don’t touch your distraction device (phone) first. Checking your phone first thing is like letting 300 random strangers into your house before you put your pants on…
Everything else can wait five minutes.
Your sanity cannot.
- Move your body for 20 to 30 minutes
You don’t have to train like a Navy SEAL. Just don’t move like a slug or sloth. Get a light sweat going at least…
Movement wakes up your brain and reminds your body that you’re not a houseplant.
Walk. Lift. Stretch. Anything that raises your heart rate and dignity.
- Feed your mind something TRUE.
Not social media.
Not the news.
Not the fart video your homie shared at 2:30 AM.
Truth resets perspective.
Scripture. Wisdom. Something that makes you sharper instead of angrier or confused.
If your brain consumes junk before 8:00 AM, don’t be surprised when your decisions look like greasy drive thru orders…
- Write down your top 3 objectives
Not your whole to do list.
Pick three things that actually move the rocket. (I don’t like needles)
Not busy work…
Not pretend tasks that make you feel productive.
Ask yourself:
“If I only does these three things today, do I win?”
If not, rewrite them.
- Do the hardest thing first
Not the most urgent.
The most uncomfortable. (Eat the toad)
The thing you have been avoiding like eye contact at the grocery store…
Do that first.
Procrastination is like fear in a hoodie.
When progress starts, stress leaves… trust but verify this and tell me about it later. ( I love hearing how people who read this far implement what I share!)
Quick real life story
I used to wake up EVERY DAY FOR YEARS and immediately check my phone.
Out of habit.
Out of addiction.
Out of weakness.
I told myself I was “checking priorities.”
I was actually just scrolling my way into stress and the matrix…
When I stopped, everything got quieter.
My mind. My house. My tone.
It was like turning down background noise I didn’t realize was blaring.
I showed up more present for my kids.
More focused in my work.
Less edgy around people I love.
AND, my sex life improved…(big win fellas!)
Why this matters…
You’re not just building a business.
You’re building your example.
Your kids and friends won’t remember your email volume.
They remember your habits, your actions, and your heart.
Your team won’t copy your words.
They copy your tempo.
Your morning is not personal.
It’s a leadership decision.
What to do next
Don’t try to become a new person overnight…
That’s how you end up buying exercise equipment that become coat racks.
Pick one step.
Execute it tomrrow morning (set an alarm so you don’t forget and label it according).
Just one.
Because consistency beats intensity.
Every time.
And dominance doesn’t start at 2pm.
It starts before your world’s first cup of coffee… or water, juice, whatever you drink!.
If this helped, there is more waiting for you.
